GMCC Massachusetts Branch ("we") is committed to ensuring that every visitor — regardless of ability or device — can access gmccma.com equally and conveniently. We believe that equal access to information is the foundation of equal financial opportunity, and we continuously improve the accessibility of this website.

1. Standards We Follow

We design this Site to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, including:

  • Perceivable: alternative text for non-text content; sufficient color contrast
  • Operable: every interactive element is operable via keyboard; no flashing or seizure-inducing motion
  • Understandable: clear language attributes, complete form labels, and predictable interactions
  • Robust: compatible with assistive technologies such as screen readers

2. Implemented Accessibility Features

  • "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page
  • Site-wide color contrast meets WCAG AA
  • All images have alt text; decorative images use empty alt
  • Form fields are associated with label; required fields are clearly marked
  • Semantic HTML tags (header / nav / main / section / article / footer)
  • ARIA landmarks and attributes (role, aria-label, aria-current, aria-expanded)
  • Responsive layout that supports 200% text zoom without losing functionality
  • Visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation
  • Color is never the only means of conveying information (links also use underline cues)
  • Captions and transcripts will be provided when video or audio is added

3. Assistive Technology Compatibility

This Site has been tested with the following assistive technologies for baseline compatibility:

  • Screen Readers: NVDA, JAWS (Windows); VoiceOver (macOS/iOS); TalkBack (Android)
  • Browsers: latest two major versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari
  • Operating Systems: Windows 10/11, macOS Ventura+, iOS 15+, Android 12+

4. Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing journey. We will:

  • Conduct periodic automated and manual accessibility audits
  • Make accessibility a non-negotiable acceptance criterion in product iteration
  • Quickly address user-reported accessibility issues
